Just One Layer.......get outta town!

Hello blogger fans. I have had some people ask me, 'when do u find the time to craft with having a part time job & having 3 kids?'
ANSWER- My 10 yr old goes to school all day & my 4 yr old (yup turned 4 on Sept 16) goes to preschool half days M-F in the afternoons (12:30-3:30 pm), which is when my 18 month old naps.....so, I get some stuff in there and then I'm usually up until 11:00pm-midnight after all the kids go to bed......so ya, needless to say, hubs and I have not gone to bed at the same time for quite some time.....I think he misses me.

***************************************

Onto my card.
Well, I initially made this for the Sugar Nellie Facebook Challenge of a One layer card. Then I missed the deadline *poop*, so I opted to save it for another great challenge. Then the Less is More Challenge of CAS wanting to get 1000 entries came up & TA-DA....I could use my fabby wee one layered card!
Meet Butterfly Girl. I stamped her with memento black ink right onto my kraft cardstock & colored only aspects of her with my watercolor pencils. I used my opaque white gel pen to make all the dots you see. The butterfly line on the bottom is my MS butterfly punch & the wee ones flying around are cut from that same punch line. Who needs a small punch when you got this baby!! woohooo!! I did some faux stitching and complimented my card with a sentiment from my Garden Whimsy SU set. Oh & don't forget the sponging & glitter! Now I don't do CAS very often or very well so what you see is what you get! LOL

Challenges for my card:
Crafty Anne's Challenge- out of your comfort zone

Saturated Canary

If you are looking for the SOME ODD GIRL BLOG HOP pls CLICK HERE.

Perhaps you have seen the images by Saturated Canary Digis around blogland lately. I certainly have & thought. "Wow these are too cute". So I went in search of some. And found them here at the Saturated Canary Digis Store on Etsy by Krista Smith. Yes, the same talented lady that brings you the Sassy Collections has digis avaiable for all her fans. I went a bought only a few but will be going back for more for sure. This image is called SWEET 16. I had my niece in mind when I created this. Original in her own way & beautiful all the same. I added freckles to her face.

Once again, it is a tag cut from my Cricut. You guessed, it, whilst we became friends for a bit, I cut a whole buncha tags off. Tickets are from Whimsy, seam bindings are from Really Reasonable Ribbons, pink sticker swirls are from Tickled Pink Stamps store &  die cut bodice shape I got off eBay that I painted over with tattered rose crackle paint.

Challenges for my tag:
Cardmadfairy's Digi Days- lots of layers
Cute Card Thursday- anything goes
Sweet & Sassy Digi Challenge- photo inspire(see below)

Because.......

This is post #2 for today, scroll down for the SOME ODD GIRL BLOG HOP

Woot Woot!
It's another JUSTWORDZ day..............that meets Fairy Fun Fridays Mid-Week reminder.
At JUSTWORDZ this week we are concentrating on 'LOVE' & at Fairy Fun Fridays, for 1 more week, our challenge is SNIPS & SNAILS & PUPPY DOG TAILS!!

Here I have created an 8X8 scrapbook LO for my brother & his family about their dog, Rousseau,  who passed away at the beginning of this year. We had my brother & his family down on September long weekend for a BBQ & Smore roast........ & they got a chance to look at what I had done so far with the scrapbook.  Boy oh boy.....let me tell ya, there were lots and lots of tears when they opened it up!! I felt so bad, but so good at the same time, knowing that this is something that will last a lifetime for them!
This also reminded me to get my butt in gear & finish this scrapbook before it turns into a 5 yr project. lol

I used an image from Prairie Fairy Designs called Furever Friends. Now I didn't have a picture of my nephews with their dog on a swing or even near a swing, so I put this picture in the LO instead. In the back of the trailer is my daughter & my niece & in the front is my nephew & Rousseau!
And on the bottom there you see my JUSTWORDZ stamped sentiment that says "because I love you".

Oh hey, did you notice the tree branches/twigs on the layout. Yup actual branches to give the whole image a true 'swinging' effect! lol

Challenges for my LO: (to follow)

Frosted Designs- sketch along Tuesdays challenge (see below)

Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge #37- Rip Something

YAY! Another week here at the Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge !! But before we get to that, I just want to let you know that we have something great planned for the first challenge of each month at the TPSC. You'll have to pop over in October to see what that is all about!

ALSO- if you are interested in being a GDT at the TPSC blog ....you must hop over to the challenge blog to find out all the details. If you can meet all the expectations, feel free to put GDT behind your entry into this weeks challenge. This is the last week for GDT submissions! Good luck to everyone!

Now, for today's challenge we want to see you

RIP SOMETHING

You can interpret this as actually ripping something like your cardboard, paper, image & so forth, or you can interpret this as R.I.P something...............which is suitable considering the whole lot of Spinks & Spooks collection (Lil Lad & Pinkettes) are available for purchase at the Tickled Pink Stamps Store until Oct 31 !!
Are you inspired NOW!?!?
I have chosen to use Lil Victorian Christmas Lad Scrooge Damon for my card. Although it's not truly Christmas themed creation, I think the message is clear with the rub-on sentiment, added charm & touch of red beneath his top coat. I also added some other rub on's to the paper beside Damon. Yet another piece of crafty goodness I have forgotten about for AGES!
I used my Tim Holtz fence die on some left over cereal box cardboard & placed it in front of Damon.

Remember if you want to participate in our challenges you must use an image from the Tickled Pink Stamp Ranges & with it being DIGI WEEK, you have no excuse not to come out & play!

Challenges for my card:
Crafty Ribbons- anything goes
Dutch Dare- monochrome
City Crafter- I heart you
Crafts & Me- add a heart
CLP Challenge- sketch (see below)

10 yrs later

I bought a magazine the other day because on the front of it, was a child holding a necklace around her neck with a picture of her father in the locket. I cried. That child never knew her father. The center of the book held a photo of 10 children born after Sept 11, 2001. These 10 children never knew their fathers. Then there was a picture of those 10 children with their widowed mothers. I cried.
Just as I did on Sept 11, 2001, as I sat in front of the TV at my moms house and watched as the twin towers came tumbling down. So many lives lost. So much tragedy. So many years later.

I will save today's paper as I did back in 2001, the year my daughter was born. What a memory to have. To this day, in her closet in a filing cabinet, lie the papers from 2001. The stories surrounding 9/11. She took them out the other day and asked me what they were. I tried to explain it, but to no avail. To a 10 yr old......it's just a memory. Like the children who never met their fathers.........it's the stories that will make the memories.

 We will never forget
(copied from the Oh My Crafts e-mail advertisement)

For the 2,977 people who perished September 11, 2001 after hijacked planes crashed in New York City, Arlington, Virginia and in Pennsylvania. The victims were mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, husbands, wives, co-workers and friends - unsuspecting innocent men and women all who died working & living the American dream.

It's been ten years since that violent day which impacted so many people, in the US as well as in many other countries around the world. Today we pause to remember and join in tribute to those whose lives were taken and to those who have carried on so bravely in their absence. May comfort come to those who continue to mourn and guide the leaders of nations in the quest for justice and liberty.

******************************

I had the shittiest, shittiest, shittiest shift at work the other night.
Busy until the wee hours of the morn......2 am to be exact, when the physician left the facility to rest his weary head, only to hear a page go out over the ambulance dispatch line at 4:15 am.
"PRIORITY 1. 5 month old. Not breathing. Not responding. CPR has been initiated "
5 months.
Sometimes I really really hate my job.
From the time the ambulance was dispatched to their arrival with the patient to our Emergency room it was 2 hrs. Time that would change lives forever.
I'm sure you can imagine the outcome of this story.
As I walked into the family room with the physician to tell the family their lives would never be the same.......I cried. Like the children who never knew their father's in  9/11......these parents & siblings would never get to know their loved one.

********************************************

As I type this, I cry.
Please live for today
&
Love for always!
