E for Excitement (& Elf)

Excitement- follow up Dr. apt tomorrow for baby check?!?!!? Hasn't been a week since my last check so why am I going in so soon??!?!?! Guess we'll see!

Elf- At ABC Christmas the theme is Elf so I created this card. They also requested to have red & green on the card & if you look close enough you can see both of those colors on some of the elves.

This is a CTMH stamp set called Merry Pursuits. This was the first CTMH stamp set I EVER purchased & was thrilled to share with all my friends! I absolutely love these adorable little munchkins!! The tag punch is from Stampin Up as is the sentiment stamped within it!
The DP paper is CTMH as is the Organza ribbon. The background of the elves is a fabricy type paper with stars & spots on it. The little mitten brads are misc. I colored my elves with SU markers & I added some crystal effects to each of the elves to spice things up a bit.
I am not much of a traditionalist when it comes to colors for Christmas. Hope that 's ok!
Talk to you all tomorrow unless I'm in the hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's almost EASTER!!!

It's almost that time of year again! To raid the kids Chocolates!!!! YEEHAW baby!!!! (PS- no baby yet, in case anyone was wondering- tomorrow is my actual due date!)

I was so excited to hear that the Prairie Fairy was sponsoring the challenge over at Sassy Designs (color challenge of Aqua & Lilac) this week, that I simply had to get in on the fun to support my 'cyber boss'. This image is from the Prairie Fairy collection & is called Egg hunt .

I colored Miss Mousy with watercolor pencils, baby oil & blending stumps per Prairie Fairy tutorial. I love coloring this way! I used my handy dandy $14.00 mini-sewing machine to stitch the outside cardstock & FINALLY got to use my fancy dancy ribbon with both the color themes present! (I think I've had this ribbon for over 1.5 yrs, so was SUPER excited to crack it open). The bling came on the ribbon, yup, sure did, you CAN believe it! I added some fleurs & pearls to spice it up, as well as some crystal effects to some of the eggs. My Happy Easter sticker finished off my masterpiece!!!

Other challenges for this card are: Dare-U-2-Digi Stamp (pearls) & Die Cut Dreams (Easter).

Color Challenge- B & W (2nd post today)

I found this challenge to be very intriguing as the theme is Black & White! And the Challenge is taking place at the Fab'n'Funky Challenge blog. I opted to use a CTMH set called Butterfly Wings.

I embossed the butterfly & sentiment with versamark & white embossing powder. I then, embossed the white paper with an embossing plate purchased at a local store. After embossing the white paper, I attempted to apply versamark & silver Pearl Ex, to give it a shimmer. Well, let me tell you, this ended up being more trouble than it was worth. I had Pearl Ex shimmering off of every part of my body, as well as the remainder of the card, which is why it may look kinda smudgy!! Sorry for that! I had to resort to using Crystal Effects to adhere almost everything to the 'shimmery' white background! The ribbon , white brads & black buttons are misc, and the little silver paperclippy type thing attached to the sentiment is from Stampin up. A little faux stitching finished off the card! If I were to do this again, i would get 15 pairs of hands!!! !

Freebie!

I have spent the better part of my morning walking & playing with my son, in the hopes of getting this labour thing started, so when I finally sat down, I realized how exhausted I really was. Maybe a nap is in order.

Anywho, enough whining. I had to go over to Prairie Fairy's house today so she could take some pics of the few new cards I made, as our camera card reader is on the fritz. So if you find the quality of my pics are better, it is thanks to my BFF!!!!

The image for this card is from Karen Johnson of Karen's Doodles & was a freebie for celebrating 300 followers on her PCP site & 900 followers on her blog! This little cutie-bear does not have a name, so I figured maybe Beary would suffice!

Beary here was colored with watercolor pencil crayons, baby oil and blending stumps as found on the Prairie Fairy's blog tutorial . Come check it out........it is my new favorite way to color images!!! ! Did I mention that the Prairie Fairy is also sponsoring the Sassy Designs Challenge this week with the color challenge of Aqua & Lilac!! Go check it out!!!

Beary also qualifies me for a few challenges (another thing I accomplished this morning....making my challenge blog list- for someone who didn't want to get involved in TOO MANY, I sure am in over my head)!!

The Pink Elephant Challenge- Sketch
Sketch Digital Tuesday Challenge- Card for Mum (card for my mom's b-day {March 16} from the kiddies)
A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge- Distressed Ink, Pearls and Glitter (Blue ink, pink & black pearls & glitter on ribbon)

I may be doing another post today, I haven't quite decided. So stay tuned!!

FFF Week 8- color challenge

So it 's that time of the week again. Another challenge is goin' down at Fairy Fun Fridays & this week it is a color challenge. The colors are the colors of the vests worn by the competitors at the Olympic Games (& the colors that are sprayed all over the television, no matter where you look, when you look at the 2010 Olympic Games being held in BC).
I have chosen to use a Prairie Fairy image called BoBillyBunny.....and have attempted to make him an Olympic Competitor. I think he lost his skiis along the way and ended up going bearfoot down the slopes!!! Silly Bunny!! You can find this cute image and more at the Prairie Fairy Design website for digital images here.
I also chose to use the sketch from MoJo Monday! There were 2 sketches to chose from and I chose the square one, as I am sort of a square myself!! lol
I also just realized this card is eligible for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge- Ribbon-Tastic!! YAY for Ribbon!!!
I had a great time making this card & I hope you like it !

Friendship- Pick 3 !

So here I sit, still able to make more cards for your perusal! Not that I am not enjoying it, it 's just uncomfortable at times, with this big ol' belly and baby resting within my ribs!!! Oh well! I will survive.

I made this card with a couple challenges in mind and will discuss those later. The exciting part about this card is it is not a digital image card. The stamp set is from Stampin Up and is called Serene Spring. The sentiment says= A friend is what the heart needs all the time!! Awwww!!!

I chose to do this card for the Stamping Vacation Challenge pick 3- I chose: 1. to put 2 colors together that I would not normally choose (The blue & awkward orange- I can't think of the names of the papers right now but they are from Stampin Up), 2. outline an image with different color markers & 3. carefully burn an edge of the cardstock (note the top of the card). I chose the colors first & as the card came together, I actually don't think the colors turned out too bad! I am pleased overall! Thinking outside the box- I LVOE IT!!

The other challenge is for Rosie-D's Challenge blog themed Friendship! How appropriate!!

I am so excited I have a few more cards made for additional challenges but am pacing myself with postings!

Hope you all have a great day!

First of all.....................

.................no baby yet! Fingers and legs crossed! HAHA!!
Secondly, this card was specifically made with the Card Patterns Sketch (again, my fav.) in mind! Will make a great b-day card for one of my daughter's friends.....one day!

The squares on the top are tile-like and the squares on the bottom are lil mirrors! Cute hey? The image is one of Phindy's from Phindy's place & can be purchased at her Etsy store here! It is called Spring Dress (Emma). I colored her with watercolor pencils, baby oil and blending stumps; & in case any of you don't know this, it is my new fav way to color. Follow the tutorial here at the Prairie Fairy blog!
Papers are misc and CTMH mix! Sentiment is from Stampin Up. Hope you all have a great day!

So many reasons to be excited ! 2 posts for the day!

#1- I got chosen for Top 3 at Stamping Vacation Challenge- Pick 3. This was over 2 weeks ago (if not a month) but because I am a little slow with learning all these technical aspects of computer organizing.....I only found out YESTERDAY!! I am such a dope!! How exciting to be able to have their award on my blog!!

#2- I am currently 39 weeks gestation!

#3- I went to the city the other day & had a 'date night' with hubby before our new baby's arrival! We ate at our favorite seafood place & were supposed to go see a movie afterwards; however due to the fact that I made him wait for 40 minutes for a table, I sacrificed the movie for a shopping spree! That was a very wise decision!
We went to Micheals where I got some great deals(punches, blending stumps, cuttlebug folders) & proceeded to a warehouse discount store down the street, where I (I should say Hubby- he always finds the good deals)stumbled across a mini-sewing machine! He said "That would be good for your cards!" I love that as much as he hates me working on my cards at the dining room table, he still always has an eye out for me!!! XOXOXO

#4- So I was able to create this card without faux stitching......I got to use ACTUAL stitching!!! WooHoo!!

Challenges:
All Sorts Challenge Blog- Tag, ticket or label
Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club- Holly
Charisma Card Challenge- Sketch

#5- More reasons for excitement- Roberta (Prairie Fairy), Lori (Just Ducky) & Kelly (Kelly' Kreative Korner) got together last night for supper, snacks & an evening of crafting. Unlike Lori (haha!) I got two cards done. One for another challenge and one for fun, which is now my favoritist card EVER!! You;ll have to wait and see!

#6- I learned how to color with pencil crayons, blending stumps and baby oil per Prairie Fairy tutorial on her blog!! I am addicted now!

I think that about covers my excitement for one day. If this does not put me in labour, I don't know what will!

Stampin Vacation Challenge

I just put this card together this afternoon. It is for my mother's birthday (March 16) but definitely had to get a jump on things with impending labour just around the corner! I also HAD to get it done in order to submit it into the Stamping Vacation Challenge- Pick 3!! I have chosen to go with using 3 of the same embellishment (buttons), using at least one button, making it a birthday card & using glitter (on the slippers)- OK OK,so I made it a pick 4!! Whatever (as my daughter would say!)hahaha!! I think that these challenges really get your mind working on a creative note!

The image is from Prairie Fairy Designs. I colored her with watercolor pencils & baby oil- with blending stumps from a tutorial given by the Prairie Fairy on her blog! Check it out, it is my new favourite way to color!!!! Paper, brads, & ribbon are misc. Buttons are CTMH as is the Birthday Sentiment (set called Card Chatter). I also used a Stampin up punch for the bottom of the sentiment on the front of the card & a 3 way Fiskars corner punch for the corners of my lady's image! The flowers are Prima Flowers from my all time fav. crafting store Micheals!!

I sure hope my mom likes the card as much as I do!!

Another Christmas Challenge! I'm gettin' me some cards done!!

I stumbled across the MoJo Monday Sketch on one of my fellow DT's blogs and thought I should check it out! I re-iterate.................there's nutin' like a good sketch to start the mind racing!!! AND to boot, I simply HAD to try out my new border punch from Stampin up (which I used both on the top & bottom of the card)

And whilst being a nosy lil blog hopper, I stumbled upon another Christmas card challenge blog called ABC Christmas Challenge, which I simply had to enter immediatly! Why not huh? The theme this week is "D for decorations- include ribbon". I used an image from Prairie Fairy Designs called Decorating the tree. This image & more can be purchased here!

The DP paper is CTMH & misc. Red ribbon is (my fav) dollar store material & the white ribbon behind the image is Stampin up. Again, kudos to Stampin up for the border punch & scallop punch which houses a misc. snowflake cutout. Bulbs on the tree are Pearls. And my image is colored with watercolor pencils & markers. A buncha glitter finishes off my project!! Merry Christmas Everyone!!

A little friend !

It's that time of the week again. Fairy Fun Fridays has made yet another appearance this week. Funny how this challenge always happens on Fridays!! HAHA! For my creation, which is themed "Buttons & Brads", I have chosen an image from the Prairie Fairy store, called A little friend. This was a freebie up on the Fairy's Paper Craft Planet sight last week and congrats to those of you who were lucky enough to snap it up!
I have taken a couple different pictures this week. With & without flash (10 pm). I always post the darker (without flash) but am looking for some input. What do I do to enhance my picture taking ability? Remember I am doing all this at my dining room table. No artsy, fartsy stuff here!

I must admit that I prefer the darker (softer look). What do u think?

I am also entering this card in Delightful Sketches Challenge (Sketch), Cute Card Thursday (Metal Mania), & Your Next Stamp Challenge (Spring Colors)
I colored my little friend with markers and watercolor pencil crayons, Hodge Podge Hardware is used to enhance the sentiment and hang on the ribbon (which is misc), papers are a mix of CTMH and misc. Brads and buttons are from CTMH and are my favourite color pieces (semi spring/fall/earthy). Sentiment is from Stampin up! Let's not forget the faux stitching on the side!

Hugs for all occassions!

I created this card around the Friday Sketchers Sketch (as I've said before....sketches are the best place to start). The image is from Phindy's Place & is called "Hugs from Here"; and can also be purchased at her Etsy store here. I am a sucker for a cute kid image (as you can probly tell from previous posts).

As the card evolved I realized it can be used for other challenges as well. First & foremost; and you may dispute me on this; but I am using this card in the Cards for Men Challenge where they have a green theme going on. Granted this is not exactly a man card.......they DO tend to be a bit childlike when they are ill....do they not?!! So I had a laugh thinking about this as I colored my lil man!!!!

The next challenge for this card is the Creative Card Crew themed Get Well Soon. And finally, by luck of the draw, for Fab'n'Funky Challenges the theme is "It's Childish"! PERFECT!!!
Hope everyone has a very lovely evening!!

Still dancin'...

Ok, I initially started the project wanting to work with pinks and browns. Then I ran across this gorgeous blue & brown paper and simply HAD to use it for the background!! Then things just took off from there.
I am using the sketch from (again my favourite) Card Patterns & the images are (again) from Prairie Fairy Designs. The Dancer is from a set of two called "Prima Ballerina (s)" and the dragonfly is from "Sketchy Bugs".

I colored my Ballerina with watercolor pencils and markers, adding a bit of crystal effects to her nose and glitter to her dress. I also added wire to my dragonfly to look like antennas.

Challenges I am entering my girl into are:
Digital Tuesday- All things girly.
Pollycraft Monday- Double up- 2 seperate images.

What to do for 1 year?~

I just wanted to post a little note about the excitement and terror I am feeling, as this was officially my last day of work for 1 year. I will be on maternity leave with my due date being February 28th !!! EEK! Will I really be on leave or will it be more work being a stay at home mom of 3 over the summer!!! AAHH!!!!! My 2 yr old boy is into EVERYTHING and my 8 yr old sometimes acts like she's 2, but other days acts like she's 12 !! OMG......let the fun begin!!!

The top picture is a shot my belly with a Henna tatoo on it. We (Prairie Fairy and I) went to my co-workers house last week and had fun with Henna. The Henna came straight from India as we recently got some really sweet Indian nurses at our local hospital who brought the materials to Canada when they came here! The Indian ladies (Smitha, Nimmy, Pramila & Shinhu) dressed up in their "Sari's" & had fun painting us all up!! It was very neat! For the most part it was the Prairie Fairy herself that used my belly as her latest canvas!

The bottom picture is of my 34 week belly. The photographer is Amber Bond and you can visit her website HERE ! I got over 100 pictures (color and B& W) to share with family and friends!

Hopefully I can get some cards made before my baby boy makes his appearance!!

Pink elephant....dare you to digi- allsorts- Christmas......make sense?

Well, seems having the Prairie Fairy blog hop allowed me to be a 'slacker' for a few days without having to make any posts!! So I'M BAAAAAAAAA---AAACK!!!!
I created the following card a while ago & have just been dying to use it when the time was right & it seems to be just so! The image is from Karen's Doodles images and can be purchased here. Again, this is another one of those images that you look at & just say AWWWwwww!! As I am currently expecting my 3rd ( & last) child, this image also struck a sentimental chord as I can see my children one day doing this (8 yr old girl, 2 yr old son, & baby boy- see it fits perfectly). The image is called First Snowfall!!

I am entering this card in 4 challenges.
Dare you to digi- requests the use of punches, which is my circles and the tag in the top corner.
AllSorts Challenge- is a 3-2-1 recipe. Here I used 3 different colors of paper, 2 brads for the corners, and 1 image.
Susie & Vikki's Christmas Card Challenge- asked for a Digital Christmas

The Pink Elelphant Challenge- wants ribbon

I colored with my watercolor pencils and blender pens & added a bit of glitter to dazzle things up as well to make it look like fal ling snow in the background. Ribbon & paper is CTMH, the sentiment is from Stampin Up (can't recall name of set-sorry), Brads are misc.

Hope you all enjoyed the Prairie Fairy blog hop! Can't wait for the next one!!

Take Care.

Card Patterns Challenge with a Phindy image

Another day, another challenge. Before I go off and get some Henna art done to my 37 week belly, I thought I would share a card I made the other day while at my 'mom's day out with scrapbooking/cardmaking'.

The image is from Phindy's Place - digital stamp illustrations and when I saw this image (called Big Boots to Fill) I immediately thought of my son (who's pic is at the top of my blog with his grandap). I fell in love with it instantly and simply had to have it. You can too, just by visiting her store on Etsy!

I am entering this card in the Card Patterns Challenge as I could not resist the sketch for this week. If there is one thing I like, it is having a sketch as a good place to start!! Thanks Card Patterns.

I colored my lil' guy with the usualy watercolor pencils and markers and chalked the background. The bluey-yellowy messy looking paper is from one of my 'fabricy' paper packs I mentioned in one of my other card posts, that I bought over a year ago. Sure is coming in handy now. The sentiment (just like dad) is a sticker from one of my WAY TOO MANY sticker packs! Papers are CTMH and misc.

I hope you like my lil' guy as much as I liked making him!!

Secondly, I have a card for Susie & Vikki's Christmas Club Challenge where they are asking for Christmas Trees! After realizing I have no digi-trees, I opted to use a CTMH stamp set to get the ball rolling. The set is called Holiday Warmth & the sentiment comes from another CTMH set called Card Chatter-Christmas.

I stamped the tree with Versamark and embossed with green and gold embossing powder, then I added some glue and glitter to make the tree sparkle. Paper is CTMH and misc. as is the ribbon and stars eyelets on the bottome. My little buckle is from SU Hodgepodge hardware.

Remember , STAY TUNED FOR THE HOP STARTING AT THE END OF THIS WEEK!!!!

WOWZERS!!!

Did I have a productive day today or what? I went to our monthly scrapbooking day put on by my Creative Memories Consultant Karen Norquay and the kids stayed with grandma! I got 3 cards accomplished there, for various challenges and then 1 more card this evening! Super happy & proud of myself!! I took a bunch of sketches with me to scrapbooking & completed the Friday Sketchers challenge, which is being sponsored by none other than my Digital Image 'Boss' - Roberta Laliberte (AKA- Prairie Fairy). She is offering up some free digital images to the winner! You can check out her store here !

Also, I see that I am at 30 followers!! WOOHOO!!! Makes me a very happy girl, and if I;m happy, hubby is happy!!HAHAHA!!!! Thanks for joining my blog!!

So here is my card for Friday Sketchers! The image is from Phindy's Place (digtial stamp illustrations on Etsy) & is called Connected Girl . This image & more can be purchased at her Etsy store. I love the little girl image as I have a pre-teen in the making.....I know these days are not far behind!!

I am also entering this card in the All Sorts Challenge- Get Distressed with Buttons & A Bow! Now hopefully I don't get disqualified, as I seem to be missing the buttons & bow part?!! Sorry. I just had to enter, as I DID do ALOT of distressing!! Hope it counts!

All the papers are misc. The pink paper with the ribbon over it is actually fabricy-type paper (is that even a word). I bought a bunch of this fabricy-type paper while on a shopping/spending spree about a year ago & often forget to use it! It has a soft texture & luckily a distressed appearance as well!! I colored my girl with watercolor pencils & markers from SU. A bit of bling for the jewellry, bag clip and phone were my final touches!

I hope everyone has as productive wknd as my Saturday was today!
Take Care.

2nd post for today............

PRAIRIE FAIRY - PRAIRIE FUN FRIDAYS!

Here is my DT card for this sketch challenge. His name is Lewis. He is a creation of the Prairie Fairy's & can be purchased here. I had great fun creating this card and thouroughly enjoyed putting it together.

Lewis is colored with SU markers and watercolor pencils. His face is the result of SU chalk. I find the chalk to be softer than the markers. The saying is a stamp from a SU set called 'Define my life'. There are so many UNIQUE people in my life, I'm sure I'll have no problem giving this card away!!

1st post for today.......

A Buncha Challenges in this one!!!

I'm really late with these posts today, unfortunately I have been working all day. 12 hr shifts at 36 weeks pregnant are not a good combo. But I made it and am here to write about it.

My first card for today is an image from Phindy's Place- digital stamp illustrations. This was one of her freebies offered as the number of followers grew! I fell in love with it.

AND as it turns out, I am putting this card in Cute Card Thursday which Phindy is sponsoring this week!!!! Woo hoo!!

My little fella is colored with SU markers and watercolor pencil crayons. I embossed the background paper with my cuttlebug, and applied a charm that says "HOPE" (in the hope that the rain stops soon).....leaving the inside of the card open to interpretation (hope your day brightens.....hope you feel better soon....etc) . I sponged the edges (tip from the Prairie Fairy which she always used to do). Finishing off my card is CTMH ribbon and misc. 'droplets' at the bottom of the card & on the coat pockets & cufflinks!

Challenges:

Friday Sketchers- Sketch
Your Next Stamp Challenges- Charms
Fab & Funky Challenges- Emboss it
Cute Card Thursday- Spots & Dots

Trying a Different Fold with A Spoon Full of Sugar !

I tried a couple of different challenges this week.
First, we have A Spoon Full of Sugar sketch (below), which really intrigued me.
I tried to combine it with Digital Tuesday Challenge of Trying a Different Fold.
I don't think my attempt to accomplish both, turned out too bad?!?!?

I used an image from (you guessed it) Prairie Fairy Design store. This is one of the set of 2 digital images you can purchase here, & are called Prima Ballerina (s).

The fold I attempted is called the Joy Fold Card, which I downloaded from the Splitcoaststampers website ages ago & never actually got around to using, until now! It is very easy peasy.............if I can do it..........anyone (& their dog) can do it too!!

The text I chose for the outside of the card says "Dance.." & the inside says "...like nobody's watching! Happy Valentines Day!"

The paper is a designer series from Close to my Heart (CTMH) called That's Amore. Ribbon is misc. and stamped hearts are from CTMH as well- a stamp set called Key to my Heart (i think?!) Once again my little lady is colored with SU watercolor pencils.

Fairy Fun Valentine !

Good day everyone! I have been on such a roll with card makng lately, I m pretty pleased with myself, however, this roll will not last forever, as I am about to have a baby (not right now!! ) ... at the end of the month, so my card making, scrapbooking and challenge blog wars will slow down to an almost crawl! Bare with me.

This card was made with the All Sorts Challenge Blog in mind. Took me a while to get going, but overall I am pleased with the outcome.

The image is from Prairie Fairy Designs ; is called Sitting Pretty, and can be purchased here! Papers, ribbon & LOVE saying are miscellaneous items (I have almost committed myself to use up all my paper scaps). The flowers, I recently purchased on my 'big ol shopping spree' the other day (which prompted the candy you see above as well). The pin on the coner is from my sewing kit as I'm not much of a seamstress that's for sure.

Fairy is colored with SU markers & watercolor pencil crayons. Sparkles on the Fairy's wings and dress complete my project. OH, almost forgot I clear embossed some swirls on the background red paper!

After doing this project I now see it is eligible for a few more challenges, so here they are:

Cute Card Thursday- Blooming gorgeous!
Creative Card Crew Challenge- Valentines !
Dare U 2 Digi Stamp Challenge- Valentines !
Your Next Stamp Challenge- Anything that Sparkles !

One Off Challenge & Blog Hop

BLOG HOP UNTIL FEB. 13, 2010

I have had this post at my sidebar for some time, however may have linked it incorrectly and for that I apologize profusely. I was not trying to negate you. Rest assured the following is the correct link for a tricky & talented blog hop hosted by Floral Fantasies (& DT) & sponsored by Sir Stampalot. The challenge and hop is to commemorate Sir Stampalots' big move to a more spacious new shop in Peterbourough. The theme of the hop is "MOVING" & there is great candy to win (pls see sidebar). The following card is one of my enteries into this challenge.

This card was made some time ago, at a card class, while I was a budding "card-a-preneur." The class was held by none other than the talented Kelly Murray. This card had a number of techniques combined into it, but what stuck in my mind the most was the 'penny-pop dot-penny' technique which makes the whole thing rock and roll (so to speak)!

The Stamp set is from Stampin up as is the saying inside that says 'if at first you DO succeed, try not to look astonished' !
Good luck to all and have fun!!
