Candy Winnas! MINE & Stamping Vacation

MY CANDY X 3

Wowzas! My candy brought so many new followers to my site & even though it was only optional to become one, I appreciate it VERY MUCH! Hopefully I don't loose you after the winnas are announced!!

MWAH!!!

To keep you inticed, however, I plan to have a MUCH BIGGER CANDY DRAW when my blogaversary arises on March 28, 2011! And if your a follower you automatically get an entry!
Stay tuned for that!

To inform you all of how I arrived at my winnas. I have a calculation!
300 followers minus 3 (1 for me & 2 for others after candy closed)  = 297 followers
297 X 2 (2 entries for followers) = 594 followers
300 Mr. linkies minus 11 for people who put links for becoming followers (not needed) OR who had too many links not specified for (allowed 3 links; 4 if you came thru on the PF blog hop)= 289 Mr. linkies
594 + 289 = 883

When using Random.org I added up the followers X2 first then moved to the Mr. Linky list.

Mr. Random . org has chosen 3 winners

"All Dressed Up" with CANDY

First I'll show you my Edwin + Halloween + Sentiment = All Dressed Up card.
I don't know about any of you but for me the struggle lies in picking the perfect papers!
I tried a couple different things here.
The sentiment came in a pack of chipboard pieces......I sanded it to give it a distressed look.
The yellow ribbon was actually white to begin with but after soaking it in on my So Saffron ink Pad from SU, this is the result. Little did the I know that the color I "died" it woul "bleed" onto the ric rak I placed on top.
(Scary enough wording for ya---wahhaaahhaa! [insert evil laugh] )

Challenges for my card:

Incy Wincy (27th) - anything goes
Tuesday Throwdown (28th)- punches
CLP (monthly)- sketch
Stamps R Us (20th)- Halloween
Haunted Design House- (27th)- Magical Mayhem
My Sheri Crafts (25th)- masculine

NOW FOR THE CANDY

Stacies @ All Things Crafty has celebratory candy to launch her new store.
First the candy pic.

Stamping Vacation- Homemade with a HOP! BLOG HOP!!!!

Welcome to your 6th stop of 11 on Stamping Vacation's first blog hop:

Homemade with a HOP!

You guessed it, we will be featuring different homemade embellishments for paper crafting and we have a long list of incredible prizes available to be won on every single blog!

$5-$50 depending on how many blogs they've commented on!

Phew, so whaddya say, let's get to it.
At my blog we have prizes offered by Susie Sugar at Die Cut Dreams

She is giving a 40 piece die cut sentiment topper kit.
(there are more sentiments in prize pack than shown here)

And Prairie Fairy Designs is offering up 5 images to the winna!

For my creation, I have chosen to hightlight both of these fine sponsors. with a die cut shape from Mrs. Sugar's Die Cut Dreams store and an image by the Prairie Fairy herself.

Meet Geisha Gillian. I know, I know, Geisha's don't wear that much rouge, but hey, Gillian is not your average Geisha you know. She is somethin' special!
This was one of the cards I started making & thought of throwing it out on numerous occassions, then at the end of the day, I actually love how it turned out!

My homemade embellishements are the buttons you see here. Yes, they are ALL homemade.
I cheated & used the tutorial from this link to aid in my quest for homemade buttons!
(I couldn't have thought of this on my own, now could I have?!?! lol)

You can do it too, very easy,  very simple & the great part is that you can make them to match any project by using the same DP & even different punches! Wonderful.

I guess I could add the homemade embellishement of "chopsticks" recycled from a couple toothpicks. Unused of course. hee hee.

Oh and yes, Giesha Gillian comes with a floral arrangement in her hair that I have swaped for some WOC flowers. I think they look ok there!

I decoupaged her fan & apologize for the smeary look, but for some reason my digi smeared when I went to color her. This has never happened before & am gonna have to talk to DH to see 'what he's done now' LOL!

If your still here, reading this, god bless you.......I'da given up by now!! lol

Your next hop will be over to Karen's blog! Tell her I say hi when you get there.

Halloween yet?

FIRST OF ALL- Shout out!!
I GOT Top 5 at ABC Challenge last weeks letter C= (Charm) for my midweek Pearls & Lace card.
{:-( saddened no blinky}

I like Halloween, I really do. The costumes, the candy, the decorations, the kids having fun running house to house getting cavities and such! lol
However, it has a different meaning this year.....well ever since my son turned one actually. From the time he could speak, his word for scarey was "bunky"....even today when he says 'scary', he often says 'bunky' as well.
Everything is 'bunky'. His puppets are bunky, our neighborhood movie store is 'bunky', the guy on the motorcycle with the KISS painted face (in the parade) was bunky.....and Halloween.....

oh yoi, yoi.

He gets tears in his eyes & he literally starts to shake when we talk about putting up the skeleton at the front door that sings to the trick-or-treaters (something he remembered 2 months ago....)

We went to Wal-Mart the other day & wandered down the Halloween isle & boy was that a mistake. Instantly he said "I wanna go home", bawling his poor little eyes out!
Now all is says is "we not go to Wal-Mart?"
I can never shop there again. LOL

Anywho, speaking of Halloween, I HAVE A CARD TO SHARE!!

Tilda does Halloween  in Pink & Black. ( & green)
I could not wait to color this up when a friend put it into my welcoming hands.
Tilda is colored with watercolor pencils, blending stumps and baby oil....her face with copics.
Pink paper in the background is misc. with a sleeve of Basic Grey almost down the middle.
I used my SU border punch on  the black cardstock behind the Basic Grey paper.
The sentiment is from an on line digi store I recently became introduced to ....
The Cat & Trick or Treat bag are from a different site I just became aware of.....
"Summertime Designs".......where everything is free. Free kits of papers, embellies & ribbons!
Pop on over to both of these sites for some awesome inspiration! You won't be disappointed!

Crafty Cardmakers DT- Around the World - INDIA

(If you wanna know more on how to get a blog designed especially to your style, continue reading after this post)

*****************************************

At Crafty Cardmakers for the next two weeks we want to see what you make for our:

AROUND THE WORLD theme.

And we are being sponsored by The Stampman!!!
(I've recently checked out this store and believe me, it ROCKS!)

For our Around the World Challenge, I have chosen to highlight India with my East Indian Tilda. When I saw this stamp, I just HAD to have her.....I explain why later. I paper pieced her Sari & showered her with flowers including the embossing. Did you know the flower of India is the Lotus? This is what I tried to portray with the yellow flower creation in the bottom left corner (even though the lotus is primarily purpily/pink). I love my Indian Tilda! I hope you do too .

The main reason I had to have this Tilda is because, as I was going in maternity leave at our local hospital, there were a few new nurses starting. They are from India & even though they did not know me very well, they were kind enough to provide my pregnant belly with Henna Art. A Henna tatoo! And I have been dying to make them special thank you cards, so here's one.
And this is the result of the Henna.

The Prairie Fairy herself was there & in fact did most of this wonderful creation!! Thanks my girl.
Less than one month later I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who is now 6 months old!

SO PLEASE show us your AROUND THE WORLD creation at Crafty Cardmakers for the next two weeks.

Challenges for my card:
Creative Card Crew- Autumn colors
A spoon full of Sugar- fall in Autumn
Sew Many Challenges- embossing (wet or dry)
All Sorts Challenge- 3 punches- (scallop, borders, nestie shape)- do die cuts count?

*********************************************

I have added 2 more candy prizes to my candy giveaway coming up on the 26th. See top of blog.

The lace & black ribbon in the back & the watermelon organza sneaking out from the very top & bottom are from Really Reasonable Ribbons.
The die cut scallop circle is from Mrs. Susie Sugar's Die Cut Dreams Store.

These pics are of some flower arrangement accents found at Dollarama.

My first hAnglar card & some pictures

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so happy to get a few things in the mail today.
First of all, these beautiful papers from a challenge I won about 8 wks ago.............Took a long time go get these puppies but I have em & I love em!
Secondly, these adorable, loveable, cutsey, whootsie hAnglar & stAnglar images from my bestest gal, pal, blogger buddy boss over seas!!! What a treat!
This is my first time coloring one of these adorable lil people & it won't be the last!
I put two & two together and got this Christmas card.

Because I will be sending this to Operation Write Home, I was not allowed to use bling (glitter or rhinestones or swirls of flash) as these cards are going to our heros of war & all the bling puts their lives in danger if caught in just the right flash of the night sky! Please read more on this HERE before making a card for this cause!

Oh how I wanted to add bling, glitter & Zing! But I withheld!

Challenges for my card:

DCD Christmas Challenge- Childrens' Christmas
Flutterby Wednesdays- angel with buttons
Bah Humbug- fav medium (watercolor pencils, blending stumps & baby  oil for coloring & stitching for accenting)
Sentimental Sundays- Christmas Cards for OWH
Cowgirls Sunday Challenge- Christmas Cards for OWH
Paper Sundaes Challenge- min 3 embellies (buttons, ribbon, eyelet)
Pile it on- Cards for OWH

NOW if your still with me................
I have some pictures to share!

Here we have a few pictures of The Honorary Prairie Fairy GurlZ at our annual Marketsquare Sale table.
We got two spots this year, Trisha supplied the tables & card holders.

As you can see by the table below, sales were BOOMING.....well, not really but I had to get a shot of the Prairie Fairy herself workin the crowd! She got some more people hooked on her stuff that day!! Woo Hoo ! you go girl!

This is a picture of my son Reade. He turns 3 TODAY!!! OMG!!!
He is a 'self taught' bike rider.
What I mean is, while I sit at the table crafting, he runs in & out of the house off & on his bike.....
.....& before I knew it, he said 'mom come look'....he was riding up  & down the cement walkway to our deck! (small walkway, small deck [a one stepper] ).
So I had to take him around the neighborhood and flaunght his bike riding ability!
Dressed to the nine's my son, who found his rubber boots on a nice summer day!

This is a picture of my daughter waiting for the bus on the first day of school .
Nine going on 16 !
Into grade 4 this yr......BTW she hates it already!! Bwahhaaha!!

And this is my son playing with his sister on his first day of school .
It is a struggle to get him here every morning & he has cried every day for about 5 mins after I leave, then when I pick him up he talks non-stop of what he did & sings the songs they sang that day!
It's definitely a 'love-hate relationship' !

Thanks for taking the time to come check out my blog today.

Don't forget about my candy at the top of my blog, until Sept. 26!

Card requests

So I had a couple card requests and thought I make them fit a couple challenges.

First I am showing you my Top Tip of saving paper. I hate to waste and truth be told, my blogging buddy gave me this idea in the first place. Why not save what you can. So when making a card, I'll (sometimes, not all the time) cut out the center of my base cuz no one sees it anyways.
Pic on left- what I am starting with
Pic on right- middle cut out of center
Next we have my base and paper I want on top assembled onto my cardstock.

Put them altogether and we have a perfect congratulatory card for a newly engaged couple.
The stamp set is from Stampin Up and I have not cracked it open for a 'coon's age' & it is called
Pocket Silhouettes (definitely an oldie)

My second card on this post I am showing my same paper saving tip & same stamp set  to make a thank you card.

The paper pack I've used for both cards is Basic Grey Cappela.

Oldie But a Goodie- new beginnings
Top Tip Tuesday- saving paper
Crafty Cardmakers- CAS (I know I can't win, but thought I'd support anyways. )
Stamping Vacation- ocassion oasis- congrats
Stamping Vacation- no no challenge- no sparkle
Stamp Something- spots & stripes
Cupcake Inspirations- photo below for first card
