Last GDT post at the Corrosive Challenge Blog

Well the time has come.............my last post as a GDT for the Corrosive Challenge. It has been great fun to play along with the rest of the team this month. Thanks team! For the last week of this month we want to hear you sing:

O Christmas Tree.

Okay, maybe not sing, but at least craft about Christmas Trees! It is, afterall, Christmas in May time!
I have chosen to make four small gift cards. They measure 4X4 and were super fun to make. I used a Christmas Tree from one of my SU sets and embossed them with Clover Leaf Green embossing powder (which didn't actually work as well as I had anticipated- does embossing powder go bad or become ineffective?) Anywho, I got out some of my Christmas Tree blingy, bling, bling papers and ribbon & BAM! Done!

Once again, I urge you to pop on over the Corrosive Challenge Blog for some more fabulous inspiration!
Thanks for stopping by!

((Check back for availability.))
I have colored her with distress inks, and as much as I love the effect, it really takes time & patience, both of which I don't have very much of with 3 children hanging off my every limb! LOL
Decorative pins were made my moi with the help of Debs' awesome b-day gift to me, a container of mixed beads & the golden snowflakes are a gift from Trisha. Magnolia Doohickey Die I  borrowed from Lori & punched a buncha papers with it! NOW I want one for sure!

Food for Thought!

Someone sent this to my e-mail, and it literally brought tears to my eyes.
Where does the blame lie..................

How True!!!!!!!!!!

In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained,
"We didn't have the green thing back in my day."
The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. The former generation did
not care enough to save our environment."

He was right, that generation didn't have the green thing in its day.

Back then, they returned their milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.

But they didn't have the green thing back in that customer's day.

In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. They walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two blocks.

But she was right. They didn't have the green thing in her day.

Back then, they washed the baby's diapers because they didn't have the throw-away kind. They dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts - wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.

But that old lady is right; they didn't have the green thing back in her
day.

Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house - not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief, not a screen the size of the state of Montana . In the kitchen, they blended and stirred by hand because they didn't have electric machines to do everything for you.

When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, they used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, they didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power. They exercised by working so they didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she's right; they didn't have the green thing back then.

They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time they had a drink of water. They refilled their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and they replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.

But they didn't have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or rode the school bus instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. They had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And they didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks
were just because they didn't have the green thing back in their day.

TRIO OF TAGS.

For my first set I have chosen to make Christmas Tags, all of which have since been given away in Pay It Forwards! ( I say first set, cuz I am also doing the midway post for this challenge)!
I really liked this challenge as it was nice to make each tag a bit different without taking much time at all!
I cut the shapes of the tags on my Cricut, which BTW, does not get used nearly as much as I thought it would. I know,......my bad 'slaps hands'! Tsk Tsk!
Most of the ribbons you see are from Really Reasonable Ribbons. And a couple of the stickers are from my scrapbooking stash.

Here's a few pics of each tag.

Ho hum......Christmas in May! lol
We hope to see your TAG TRIO over at the Totally Tilda Challenge this time round.

Challenges for my tags:
Magnolia Down Under- Christmas in May (weird right?)

Oh Baby!

WWoooooooooooo weeeeeeeee I have been busy, busy busy the last few days. It's so nice to get a long stretch off of work, then I can get on a real crafting spree.
I made this card as a request from a girl at work who needed a baby boy baby shower card.Once I had it made,  I had a heck of a time getting a hold of her. After finally tracking her down yesterday, turns out that baby shower was going on RIGHT THEN ! LOL
I quickly rushed the card over and she was as happy as could be.

I used the sketch from Midnight Madness as the little hanging parts seemed to fit so perfectly to display Baby Edwin (OK< I know, it's  baby Tilda or Tingla or whatever, but remember I needed a baby boy card so to me it's Edwin). Papers are from a CTMH paper pack (can't recall the name), heart charm is from Bizzy Becs & seam binding is from Really Reasonable Ribbons. The sticker sentiments on the front of the card & on the inside were a b-day gift from Susie!

Thanks for popping in today.
Remember I have birthday candy at the top of my blog FOR MY CURRENT FOLLOWERS (new followers will not be included).
Take Care

Phew ......made it!

I am just whipping this into blogger right now cuz I have to go pick up my son at preschool, but I didn't want to miss the boat over at the Sugarbowl Challenge which is this fabby sketch. If you know me, you know I can't pass up a sketch!

And here's my take.
The string/jute (whatever it is) inspiration is from a fellow blogger friend of mine HEGE.  It was this exact post HERE that inspired me to go on the hunt for this material, that I later found looming in my basement. I told her I am sooooooooooooo gonna CASE her cuz I immediately fell in love with her creation! This sketch lended itself perfectly for this layout!

Thanks HEGE!

KAY I'M BACK

Wow, can you believe this card only took me 2 hrs to put together!?!
You see I only saw the challenge over at the Sugarbowl yesterday & was bound & determined to make something for it. So with the help of my sons preschool (him being gone), my daughter's school (her being gone) & my youngest's two hr nap this morning, I was able to pull this together.
Once I had the perfect image, all the other embellies just fell into place, funny thing is almost all the embellies had to be glued down. BWAHahhaa, which usually takes a long time!
All I can say is thank gawd for Aleene's tacky glue that dries fast and clear. Goes on white, dries clear. LOVE THAT STUFFS (see tut below)

The doily I sponged with my pumpkin pie SU ink pad and Tim Holtz Vintage photo ink pad. Birdcage is a chipboard piece I bought in a set of 3 from a local craft store. I NEED TO BUY MORE !

Frames for the words 'friends forever' are from Dollarama, as are th feathers. The gold corner adornements are off eBay! Below is a pic of my completed inside.

Now for my Top Tip/ Mini Tut:

I must admit I was a little stumped at first on how to make the circle (in the sketch) with the rope/string/jute I had in mind, so I used my CTMH circle cutter to make it just so.
I placed the shape where I wanted it, then started dabbing glue around the outside about 3" apart in order to hold the rope down. The I had to take the circle shape away before it adhered to the paper & rope material.
The last pic there, just shows you the 3 different sizes of my circle cutters.

This pic shows exactly where my rope ends meet. (see the arrow)
And the last pic is just to show you that after the initial glue parts had dried, I still had to go in & add more to secure the remainder of the rope material.

All in all, this was a very fun project with lots & lots of textures including my corner adornments, feathers, suede brown brads in opposite corners, chipboard piece, frame & bling!
My speciality, embellied to the max!

Challenges for my card:
Sugarbowl- sketch (see above link & pic)
Creative Card Crew- cute & girly
Diva's by Design- for the girls
Top Tip Tuesday- for a child
Truly Scrumptious- anything goes
