Beautiful weather here at last! Sun is shining, A/C system is NOT frozen solid (as it seemed to be yesterday)...and I can honestly say that today I am the proudest mom ever.
My 9 yr old daughter got an award at school today (along with 3 other kids).
She recieved the HOMEWORK award for consistently doing her homework on time, every week from Sept. to June. She got a certificate, a chapter book & a Subway (her fav. place to eat) gift card for a free kids meal. She is very smart & aside from being proud of her, I can also say I was glad my 2 yr old & (almost) 3 month old were very well behaved at the award ceremony, which as held at the school gymnasium. YAY!!!
My post today has 2 seperate cards in it, but they both use the Coneflower image from Prairie Fairy Designs. Now if you have NEVER visited the Prairie Fairy's MUST go & have a look around. The images are FAB! If you have been to the store in the past, you may get a shock if you go & look around today. Prairie Fairy Designs has gotten a facelift that you WILL LOVE!!!!

For my first card I used the sketch from Friday's Sketchers. The black paper, upon which the flower is contained, was placed through my printer & was then IMMEDIATELY embossed with white embossing powder. Yup, Worked fantastically.
The paper is from the Paper Temptress & it has a shimmery appearance to it. I am not sure if images can be embossed on just ANY paper, but this paper works for that exact technique PERFECTLY.
You may or may not have guessed that this card is also for the Our Creative Corner challenge of black & white with lots of texture.
My texture is the fuzzy white material in the upper left corner with the safety pin, silvery/grey tissue paper in the upper right corner (see pic below), fine metal mesh (Magical Crafts Challenge) material at the bottom of the card, silver doilies behind the flower image & buttons ! Lots going on here !! lol

My second card is (again ) with the coneflower image & I used the sketch from Card Patterns to show it off. I also incorporated the color challenges at All Sorts (which is black, white & one other color) & The Crazy Challenge (black, white & pink). Luckily enough the design of the sketch allowed me to incorporate a hidden message as well, allowing me to enter the Pollycraft Mondays challenge.
Finally, to meet the Summer Delights request at the Cupcake Craft challenge- I offer up the brightness of the pinks & sun shining on the flower. That's what summer means to me!!

Hope everyone has a great hump day!!!
