A new technique (for me) & TOPS!

Well, not really a new technique for many of you, but for me it is!
Based on my admiration for many people who color with distress inks, I have been practicing watercoloring with re-inkers trying to figure out if purchasing a set of Tim Holtz distress inks is worth it?
What I've learned......
1. The paper I bought maybe too thick & bumpy (140 lb & I;ll have to experiment with the other side of the paper before I give up on it completely- the other side is smoother)
2. If you stamp your image with Staz-On ink, you can't use copics to color (which is my only face colors)
3.. If you stamp with Memento black ink, let it dry first, before coloring
4.. (from Chelsea) you can lighten an area of coloring with applying more water & dabbing with a papertowel
5.. You don't need million dollar brushes (although they may help)...I use my aquamarkers to color
6. Tim Holtz distress ink PADS (I only have one) aren't the best way to get your color, so in that regard, yes reinkers would be best.
7. CTMH reinkers don't blend as nicely as SU reinkers.

OVERALL. I am having a blast coloring this way!
What have I made you ask.......

The light shades of blue are from my CTMH distress ink mini-pad & the darker blue are from a Twilight CTMH inkpad. Hair & skin are copics.

This is my first door hanger creation & I made it for my daughter Hannah (see her name on there) for Christmas. She's always putting one thing or another on her door!
Door hanger & star & swirl blings are compliments of Susie Sugar & her Die Cut Dreams Store!
These are sooooooooooo fun to make.
I am headed over to post this at our Steel Magnolia's blog now!
See you there.
