Lest we forget.

In Flanders Fields.

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

I have made a card for this very special day when lives were lost fighting for the freedom of others.
Whenever I go to the Remembrance Day ceremony at my daughter's school I feel the tears well up in my eyes (even as I write this, they are here again) & the goosebumps on my skin.....
just listening to the TAPS and hearing the names of fallen soldiers,
makes me thankful to them!
Thankful for my family. Thankful for my friends.
Thankful to be alive.

*********************************************

My card features an image from Prairie Fairy Designs called Watering Can.
The arrangement in the pot are poppies.
A beautiful arrangement I have highlighted using the spotlighting technique. You can also highlight an image by reverse spotlighting as well.
I have embossed the paper beneath the red Jute with a flower embossing plate resembling poppies, then I sponged red distress ink over top. I got these fabulous Jute & Gingham ribbons from Really Reasonable Ribbons! Paper is misc.

Sentiment is from the Cutting Cafe & I used a circle scallop frame from CTMH to highlight it!
Can you see the little NAVY  charm I added ?

I added stickles wherever I could! I colored my imge with watercolor pencils, blending stumps & baby oil!

I hope you take a moment of silence out of your day today to remember the meaning of November 11th.
